Answers for the everyday questions.

Why does a product show Unknown?

Unknown means the product isn’t in the food database yet, or the data on it isn’t clear enough to give an honest verdict. When that happens, use Scan the label to photograph the ingredients list instead — the reading happens on your phone. You can also help improve things for everyone by suggesting an edit from inside the app.

Why does the same product show differently in the UK?

Gluten-free labelling rules differ by country, and GlutenDodger applies the rules for your selected region. Australia has some of the strictest gluten-free standards in the world, so a product that is labelled gluten-free in the UK may still get a more cautious verdict under Australian rules.

Does the app work offline?

Mostly, yes. Your Safe List and any products you’ve previously scanned are available offline. Looking up a brand-new barcode needs a connection to reach the food database, but reading a label photo happens entirely on your device.

Is the app medical advice?

No. GlutenDodger is an information aid, not medical advice. Verdicts are best-effort and can be wrong, so always check the label yourself and follow the guidance of your health professional.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings → Delete all my data, or simply uninstall the app. Nothing exists off-device, so removing it from your phone removes it entirely — there’s no account or server copy to clear.

Spotted a wrong verdict?

Use Suggest an edit in the app — it emails us the product and barcode so we can fix it for everyone.
